Mounts can be of different sizes and shapes. Some of the mounts can be stand-alone. Some mounts can be designed for some special situations. However, all of them are very important for installing solar PV panels.
The scientists are always working for the best use of solar panels. So, they are discovering new types of mounting for the best efficient work with the solar panels.
Types of mounting
Mounts of the solar panels are of three main categories. They are the ground mounting, flush mounting and the pole mounting. They are used in different cases.
Flush mounts are very cheap. They are very simple to use. A good metal end bracket is placed on both sides of a solar panel. Thus, the flush mounts are achieved.
Flush mounts are not used for all solar panels. Generally, they are used with some little solar arrays. They are used on top of roofs and also in RVs. The structural design of flush mounts does not support the large solar PV panels.
Before the installation of a flush mount, ample clearance is needed between the roof and the panels’ underside. There should be a minimum distance. It may be about two to four inches.
This minimum distance is needed for the flow of air. This flow of air will keep the whole unit cool. If there is no clearance in the system, it will be overheated very quickly. This will reduce the life-span of the whole system.
The flush mounts are very cheap. It is very easy to install the flush mounts. But, this type of mounts is not flexible. They can’t support an orientation of solar panels.
The roof-ground mounts are also known as universal mounts. They are used for large solar panels. These mounts can be installed in two places. They can be installed on top of roofs and also on ground.
A grid-like system is needed for the installation of this type of solar panel mounts. However, normally, they are bulky. It is safe to consult with an instructor before installing this type of mounts.
There are many processes of installing the universal mounts. The total height of the system can be increased. For this, poles and concrete blocks can be used. They will elevate the whole system.
Many of these mounts are adjustable. This type of mount is more costly. It may be tough to install these mounts. However, the advantage is that, they can be used for larger solar panels.
Pole mounts are another type of mounts. These mounts are of different types. They are the top of pole mounts, the side of pole mounts and the pole tracking mounts.
The tops of pole mounts are made of metal rock. It slips over the pole’s top level. The side of pole mounts is used in smaller solar panels. The tracking pole mounts increase the operating efficiency.
